Have You Illegally Passed A School Bus? | Cash for Cars Atlanta

Children are precious, so keeping them safe is a top priority for most of us.  One area where they are at  risk for injury or death is exiting the school bus. This is why laws and procedures are put in place to make their exit from the school bus safe. These procedures are designed to protect our little ones from being hit by a car accidentally.  According to the NTHSA, “Every one of the 50 states has a law making it illegal to pass a school bus with its red lights flashing and stop-arm extended that is stopped to load or unload students. “

So why are so many cars still going around a stopped bus when their lights are flashing and the arm is out? When drivers don’t immediately see a child they will often try to pass the bus on the left or right, not even considering the potential danger in doing this.  Even though the risk of a child being injured this way is low, the potential for it to be a fatal or serious injury is very high.

Drivers need to be patient and just wait! Nothing you have to do is worth a child’s life.
